67 year old Kerala Nurse dies of Covid-19 in Delhi

Rajamma, a 67-year-old Keralite nurse who was working at Shivaji Maternity Centre in West Delhi for the last 20 years died of coronavirus attack.She had never thought of a retirement life as she was very active even at this age and was very fond of new born babies. But fate has brought a tragic end to her devoted life as she became another prey to the deadly coronavirus after she tested positive for Covid-19.

Hailed from Njeezhoor, Kottayam Kerala Rajamma was working at the two bed Shivaji Maternity Center. Ten days ago she returned home from work and complained of bodyache and cough, said her daughter Divya Madhusudan (29), reports The New Indian Express.

“She stopped going to work, and developed fever and severe cough. Last Friday, we got her test done, and on Sunday, the result came positive. By then, she had developed breathing issues,” said Divya.

After the health of Rajamma was deteriorated , Divya,who heself works as a nurse in a nearby hospital, hospitalized her with the help of her nieace. Soon,she was admitted to the ICU, and around 1.30 am Wednesday, she died. Her daughter said Rajamma was diabetic. At present, Divya along with her father Madhusudan (68) is in home quarantine and has displayed no symptoms so far.

Rajamma’s colleague Sunita, who worked with her at the centre for 20 years, said, “She treated patients like family and loved babies. She used to treat them like her own, and patients would leave very happy.” The report said.
