7.8 magnitude earthquake Strikes Russia amidst Covid-19 Scare

Sevro: At the time of Coronavirus scare, Russia has been hit by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake resulting in a  tsunami warning that was later cancelled. The Kuril islands of Russia  recorded an earthquake, intensity of 7.8 on the Richter Scale. The US Geological Survey warned the country of this mishap on Wednesday.

At the same time, Japan Climate Study Center did not give any warning, instead they warned Russia of just a small tide. Reports say that the epicenter of the earthquake is on the Japan-Russia border. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the US reported that the Tsunami is in the state of Hawaii. Another agency reported that the expected tsunami can cause a lot of destruction to the country.

People living near around Hawaii, Japan, Russia, and Pacific islands were asked to take precautionary measures and be vigilant about an upcoming tsunami or earthquake. It is bound to happen 0.3 m above the tidal range.

Japan Meteorological Association said there will be just huge waves and that there is very little chances for a tsunami to occur. They did not give any other information or warnings. US reported that the tsunami is likely to happen in the southeast parts of Sevro town upto a height of 218 km (135 miles). The US Geological Survey clarified that the tsunami will have a depth of 35 miles.
