Ancient Siddha remedies for various ailments

Siddha is an ancient Indian medical system that originated in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is believed that Lord Shiva first described the Siddha system to his wife Parvati. According to the tradition, Siddha is focused on “Ashtamahasiddhi,” the eight supernatural powers and those who have attained or achieved these powers are known as Siddhars. There were 18 important Siddhars in olden days and it was they who developed this system of medicine. As a result, it is called Siddha medicine. The Siddhars wrote their knowledge in palm leaf manuscripts, fragments of which were found in parts of South India. It is believed that some families may possess more fragments but have kept them in secret solely for their own use.
