Body massage has been a style of treatment which has been prescribed by many ancient texts as well as modern medical science for its power to relax the body and also to heal the body of the various ailments. Massage involves acting on and manipulating the body with pressure. It could be in different forms such as structured, unstructured, stationary and moving. It involves applying pressure on various parts of the body via tension, motion or vibration and it is done  both manually and with mechanical aids.

Manual massage can be applied with the hands, fingers, elbows, knees, forearm, and feet. There are over eighty different recognized massage modalities. All of these modalities aim at improving the blood circulation and strengthening the organs of the body.
