Complaints from passengers against International flights galore

As Vande Bharat Mission which started to fulfill the requirement of Indians who reside abroad to fly to India is underway, many complaints from Nri passengers against the airline companies were received by officials. The fliers are complaining the lack of correct information from  airlines and they allege misconduct of the airline staff .

According to India Today a Candian Permenant resident, who reserved ticket from India to Vancouver on Lufthansa airline, was not allowed to even enter the airport on the date of travel as the airline staff informed him that the permanent residents would not be allowed to travel according to DGCA rules. Later he filed a complaint against the airline staff as according to him they behaved very rudely and had the restrictions mentioned on the website he would not have gone to book the ticket spending  around one lakh rupees.

There were many such incidents in which many passengers have come up with similar complaints. According to a report a group from Surat, a senior citizen from Hyderabad , a couple from Bengaluru travelling with a 10-month-old who is a citizen of USA as the parents were Green card holders were not allowed to travel by Lufthansa staff.

According to the passengers they waited at the airport for six hours and asked why the flight took off without us. But the airport staff had not replied to their query and asked them to leave the airport.

The Passengers  also alleged that the airline had accused it on the government though there was no rule stopping their travel.

The Lufthansa had later clarified that  they had  failed to put the government restrictions on their website, report said.

Moreover, several passengers who tried to reserve ticket from abroad to India on Air India repatriation flights also showed their anger on social media about the failure on the Air India websites too. Many have also alleged that Air India is charging double and many of them have not been able to afford that much price for a journey.

Air India and its subsidiary Air India Express had started operating international flights from May 7 onwards as part of the Vande Bharat Mission, to repatriate Indians abroad. The first phase was from May 7 to May 16, following which the second phase started.

Earlier, Minister of Civil Aviation Hardeep Puri had tweeted that resumption of scheduled international flights may be delayed as the global situation is far from normal.

“Due to increase demand for resumption of scheduled international flights by people who want to travel abroad due to compelling reasons, I reviewed the state of international flight operations around the world. Globally the situation is far from normal. Most countries have less than 10% international operations because they are allowing entry only to their own citizens and have placed restrictions on foreign nationals. Many are allowing inbound flights from few countries but have also placed restrictions of quarantine/isolation,” the Union minister tweeted.
