How much sugar can be consumed in a day?

Sugar intake and diabetes has always been a domain of scrutiny for many. Sweet foods being very tempting, it is hard to control the tendency to consume food items that contain sugar and excessive consumption of such food can be detrimental to health. The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends the following limits for sugar intake per day.  The limit for men is 38 gms per day whereas for women, it is not more than 25 grams of sugar. For children, the consumption of sugar should not be more than 25 grams per day.
