India may allow U.S flights to resume after criticism

India is likely to allow the U.S airlines to operate from the U.S to India in a calibrated manner. The decision to allow the U.S flights to India has come in the wake of restrictions imposed by the U.S travel department on Air India repatriation flights on grounds of “unfair and discriminatory practices. ”
According to reports, the talks between India and the United States (US) are going on to develop a travel corridor which will significantly lessen travel restrictions between the two countries. This will be the first green corridor India will set up with any country. The U.S has similar initiatives with select European countries.
It is also reported that the government of India is likely to create similar travel bubble with European countries like U.K,France,Germany etc.
Travel bubbles, also known as travel bridges or green corridors, remove the waiting period for travelers from certain countries.
Earlier, citing “unfair and discriminatory practices “, the US Transportation department had decided to restrict Air India’s repatriation services. According to U.S officials, the government of India had been engaging in “unfair and discriminatory practices” on charter air transportation services to and from India.
The U.S officials had also instructed the Indian National career Air India to obtain a prior approval for conducting charter flights services.
