India-U.K flights to resume from January 6

Bringing an end to the uncertainty prevailed after the statement on Friday, Civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Saturday made it clear that flights from India to the UK will resume from January 6 . However, the operations from the UK to India will start only on January 8. Earlier on Friday Puri had stated that the flights between India and the UK would resume in the coming days.

According to the minister Hardeep Singh Puri, thirty flights will operate every week, including 15 each by the Indian and UK carriers and the schedule’s validity is till 23 January. However, according to the new decision, flights will be only operated to and from the national capital, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

It was in the wake of the discovery of cases of a new infectious strain of SARS-Cov-2, first detected in the UK that the DGCA decided to suspend the international flights to and from the United Kingdom until January 7.
