Kerala set to open India’s first ‘Gender Park’ in Kozhikode on February 11

The inaugural ceremony of India’s first ‘Gender Park’ is scheduled to be held on February 11 in Kozhikode, Kerala.

According to a report by PTI, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the premises on February 11. He will also lay the foundation of International Women’s Trade and Research Centre (IWTRC) on the same day. This is being built with an aim to establish a secure and sustained ecosystem to empower women entrepreneurs and provide them a platform to market their products.

The first phase of the Gender Park ,a Gender Library, Gender Museum, an Amphitheatre, and a Convention Centre will also be initiated at the said event.

According to the Park’s website , the Gender Park is an initiative of the Government of Kerala to work towards gender equality and empowerment in the state. Headquartered in the state’s capital-Thiruvananthapuram- its main 24-acre campus is set in Kozhikode.

Asper their website, the park aims at creating a society where all genders have equal access to opportunities, resources and benefits with an equal voice in key decision-making that shapes their lives, communities and the state.

With a capital of INR 300 crores invested by Kerala government the Gender Park will operate from a ‘three tower’ building.
