Nithin Chandran, husband of the pregnant NRI woman, who moved Supreme Court in India demanding evacuation of stranded Pregnant women, dies in Dubai

Nithin Chandran (29) ,husband of Keralite woman Athira Geeetha Sreedharan (26), who moved the supreme court demanding the evacuation of stranded pregnant women from abroad, has died in Dubai on Monday.

Nithin Chandran (29) and his wife Athira Geeetha Sreedharan (26), made the headlines when she moved the Supreme Court in India to get permission to fly back to India saying her delivery was due in July as the aviation laws do not allow her to fly after seven months of pregnancy.

Even though Nithin was also given a ticket, thanks to Congress legislator from Palakkad Shafi Parambil, who sponsored along with a collective of NRIs, to travel with his wife on the first flight, but he gave away the open ticket to another needy person and also sponsored two other tickets for those who could not afford the charges, his friends said.

According to reports Athira arrived in Calicut on May 8.

Doctors in Dubai said Nithin died of cardiac arrest but his sample will be tested for Covid-19. His friends said if the sample tests negative for Covid-19, his body will be flown home in a couple of days.
