Relief for expatriates as Indian carriers restore Qatar services on May 1

After almost two months , India’s largest airline carriers are poised to resume services to and from Qatar on May 1, giving solace to thousands of Indian expatriates stuck in the country after Operation Epic Fury, during which the U.S. and Israel launched attacks on Iran.
The country’s airline carriers will reinstate their full flight schedule to Hamad International Airport (DOH) starting May 1, a report said.
India’s largest carriers such as Air India and IndiGo are expected to restore services to Doha on Monday.
The Embassy of India in Doha took to X, stating, “Indian carriers plan to resume operations at Hamad International Airport, Doha, as flight operations continue to expand. Air India, Air India Express and IndiGo plan to resume their flight services between Doha and various destinations in India starting May 1, 2026. Please note that all flight operations are being conducted in coordination with relevant authorities and airline partners, and passengers may remain in touch with respective airlines for flight-related information.”
The embassy stressed that the resumption of flights is part of a coordinated effort with international aviation authorities, reflecting broader efforts to normalise air travel in the region amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
While flights officially resume today, schedules remain “subject to coordination with relevant authorities,” underscoring the fluid situation in the Middle East, where peace remains a day-to-day negotiation
