Russia’s Sechenov University successfully completes trials of Coronavirus vaccine

Moscow State Medical University in Russia, Sechenov University, has completed the clinical trial’s of the world’s first coroanavirus vaccine. According to a report by Sputnik News, the information has been confirmed by Vadim Tarasov, the director of the Institute for Translational Medicine and Biotechnology.

The report also claimed that vaccine’s safety, when given to humans , had been successful and the first group, who participated in human trial, would be allowed to leave in two-three days and the second group would be freed on July 20. According to report, all clinical trials of COVID-19 vaccine was provided by Gamalei Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology started on June 18.

Alexander Lukashev, the director of the Institute of Medical Parasitology, Tropical, and Vector-Borne Diseases at Sechenov University said that now the safety has been confirmed, it means that the vaccines that are already in the market are safe too.

Moreover, the vaccine manufacturer is preparing a plan for the progress of this vaccine that will include the “complexity of the epidemiological situation with the virus” and how to speed up the vaccine’s production, the report added.

Tarasov noted that Sechenov University has arose as a scientific and technological research center for this vaccination rather than just acting as an educational institution at a time when countries are reeling under the pressure from the novel Coronavirus transmission.

However, according to World Health Organisation, the most advanced among the front runners is Oxford’s Covid-19 vaccine and it is expected to be launched soon as AstraZeneca by Oxford is in the third phase of clinical trials.
