Sikkim accepts fully vaccinated tourists

The Govt. of Sikkim has decided to allow fully vaccinated tourists to visit the state after being shut down for four months due to the surge in Covid-19 cases.

According to a notification released by the government, starting from today fully vaccinated tourists can visit the state.

The notification issued by the Home Department, Government of Sikkim stated that “Entry of all persons, including tourists, who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, shall be allowed entry from Melli and Rangpo check post, without RT-PCR negative report on the production of valid vaccination documents. For all others, existing restrictions will continue to apply.”

All Hotels, Guest Houses, Home Stays, etc. shall be allowed to operate with 50% capacity. The management shall ensure strict adherence to Covid-19 protocol, the notification said.

Malls, Showrooms have also been allowed to operate given that the management of such units should strictly follow the Covid-19 protocols as per the guidelines.

The notification further stated that all factories, production units, and commercial establishments could also operate at 100 percent capacity provided the workers/employees are fully vaccinated.

Since March Sikkim had suspended tourism activities in the state due to the second wave of Covid-19.
