Similar to India; UAE sings songs, makes noise, expressing their gratitude to health workers

Coronavirus is spreading like wildfire and health workers in UAE who are at the forefront in containing its spread is thanked by the people of the land. In UAE, people have taken to the balconies of their flats and villas  to sing the national anthem and make noise to express their gratitude to the health workers who are working tirelessly to help the infected lot and also prevent its spread. Earlier, India too had taken to the balconies of their homes to hit pots and pans and make noise to express the success of the janata curfew imposed by the PM. This gesture was also to thank the Indian health workers for their dedicated service.

In a similar manner, hundreds of UAE citizens and expatriates, took to the balconies of their homes to sing the national anthem to express their appreciation and gratitude to the health workers. This was similar to the instruction given by Modi.

National Media Council Executive Director, Jabir al-Lamki, expressed his happiness through a tweet on the UAE government’s and people’s gesture in honoring the health officials of the country for their sacrificial work and commitment. He also shared a picture of people singing the national anthem from the balconies of their homes to honor these health workers along with the tweet.

As part of the sanitation works, the Dubai government has also started a national sanitation program to control the spread of this virus. Strict travel bans too have been imposed in Dubai. Acting as a role model for this program and to motivate others too to take this seriously, Sheikh Mohammed is staying at his residence as part of self-isolation. His daughter shared a picture of the UAE ruler in self-isolation through instagram.  The ruler also started an online campaign to thank the country’s health officials for their work to protect the health of the nation.

Heavy fine to be imposed in Dubai for those violating self-quarantine rules

The country will impose a fine of 1000 Dirham for those violating the rules on social distancing. A fine of 2000 Dirham will be imposed on those moving around unnecessarily. People who travel in groups of more than three will also be fined 1000 Dirhams and those who conduct marriage parties or other functions in large groups will be fined 10,000 Dirhams. Those who attend such parties will be fined 5000 Dirhams. If those who are in quarantine violate the rules they will be fined 50000 Diharmas which is almost 10 lakh INR.

50,000 Dirhams will fined against those who open their shops by violating the governments rules. It is only lately that the cabinet approved of imposing such heavy fines. It was only after such heavy fines were imposed that people especially the malayalees decided to confine to their homes.

After these rules have been imposed very few violations only have been reported. Dubai’s governing body has proposed to double the fine in case of violating the rules for a second time. These strict rules are helping the government greatly to stop the spread of the virus.

Modi, Sheikh Mohammed review steps taken to control coronavirus

Earlier, Prime minister Narendra Modi and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and UAE Deputy Commader-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan had reviewed the steps taken to control the novel coronvirus. Both the leaders inquired about the other’s country over telephone.
Both leaders said that the next two weeks are crucial for both countries in terms of containing the spread of the virus. The two countries sought cooperation from each other so that they can work together to drive away the pandemic very soon. The world leaders also assessed the need to maintain the strong ties between each other.
The Sheikh assured that the more than 20 lakh Indians in the UAE will be cared for and protected. Modi thanked the Sheikh for the consideration given to the Indian citizens.
