Vistara and Lufthansa Deepen Partnership, Expanding Network to 12 European Destinations

Vistara, the prominent full-service carrier in India and a joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, has announced a significant expansion of its codeshare partnership with Lufthansa, a leading European airline. This development aims to enhance connectivity for Vistara customers traveling across Europe.

Under this expanded collaboration, Lufthansa will introduce its ‘LH’ designator code on Vistara-operated flights, covering nine Indian cities from New Delhi. Notably, six new virtual Lufthansa destinations, namely Ahmedabad, Goa, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kochi, and Pune, will be included, along with Vistara flights between Delhi-Mumbai and Bengaluru-Chennai.

With these additions, Vistara’s network will encompass 12 key European destinations:

  • Amsterdam (AMS)
  • Stockholm (ARN)
  • Berlin (BER)
  • Budapest (BUD)
  • Copenhagen (CPH)
  • Rome (FCO)
  • Hamburg (HAM)
  • Helsinki (HEL)
  • Lisbon (LIS)
  • Munich (MUC)
  • Oslo (OSL)
  • Prague (PRG)

Passengers will now have greater travel options and seamless connections within this expanded network. In return, Vistara will add its ‘UK’ designator code to Lufthansa-operated flights, serving 12 cities from Frankfurt.

The bilateral codeshare agreement between Vistara and Lufthansa allows both airlines to market and sell flights on each other’s networks. This collaboration ensures a seamless travel experience for customers, offering a wider range of choices and smoother connections between India and Europe.

The partnership between Vistara and Lufthansa began in 2019 when Lufthansa added its designator code (LH) to Vistara flights, covering 18 destinations in India. Building on the success of the initial agreement, both airlines have deepened their collaboration to further enhance connectivity and customer satisfaction.

Expressing his delight at the strengthened partnership, Deepak Rajawat, Chief Commercial Officer of Vistara, emphasized the commitment to delivering exceptional service and connectivity options. He stated, “We are thrilled to strengthen our partnership with Lufthansa, one of the world’s leading airlines. This underscores our continued dedication to offering enhanced connectivity, world-class service, and a wide range of options to our customers.”

Jeffrey James, Head of Communications APAC & Chief Spokesperson for the Lufthansa Group, echoed this sentiment and highlighted the significance of the Indian market. He said, “We take pride in our relationships, and in India, our partnership with Vistara represents our strong commitment to the country. As the third-largest aviation market globally, India remains a key focus for our Group. We are delighted to further strengthen our relationship with Vistara, offering Indian travelers more choices, options, and connectivity between Europe and the subcontinent.”

This expansion of the Vistara-Lufthansa codeshare partnership is set to provide passengers with increased accessibility and seamless travel experiences, contributing to the growth of air connectivity between India and Europe.
